Sandra Peek
Sandra was born and raised in Wisconsin, being influenced by the beautiful rural culture of the Midwest. She has always had a love of art, creating in grade school and high school, however did not have any formal training until moving to Forest Lake and discovering the Studio in the Woods. Sandra began taking lessons there with Bonnie Anderson, and when the Studio closed she began taking lessons at the Mainstreet Art Center in Lake Zurich under the teaching of Frankie Johnson.
Sandra has been painting for over 30 years now using oils, pastels and has recently taken up watercolors. She began dabbling in watercolors at the Ela Senior center under the direction of Joyce Klug and took over the leadership of the group a couple of years ago. Sandra is still learning, but truly prefers the oil painting experience.
Sandra is a member of the Barrington Area Artist Association, Des Plaines Art Guild and the Lake County Artist League. Her paintings are in many private collections throughout the country. In addition, Sandra has done many portraits in pastels for family, friends and co- workers. Sandra has three children and enjoys gardening, reading, and participating in various church related activities.
